- I grew up in Dayton Ohio. I went to college in Indiana and seminary in Chicago. Then Ph.D. work in Atlanta. That was a turning point for me. I learned to love the sun belt. When I moved to California and then Texas I came to love the West. Then God's pernicious sense of humor brought me back to the midwest not far from where I grew up.
